Overview: For residents or property owners or business owners in Springfield

Residents

Anyone living at a residence inside the City of Springfield property tax limits is eligible to set up a library card.

  • Bring your photo ID and proof of address to apply.
  • Anyone age 16 and older can sign up to get a library card on their own behalf.
  • Youth ages 0-15 are eligible to set up a library card when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The youth must be present to have an account set up.
    • If a youth age 15 or younger visits the library with someone other than their parent or legal guardian, they can visit us with this For Every Student a Library Card Application to set up an account.
    • The form must be completed in full and signed by a parent or legal guardian.

 

If you are currently in transition and do not have permanent housing, but you do reside in Springfield, you can set up a card with us.

  • First, you will need to visit Catholic Community Services. The Springfield location is at 1025 G Street.
  • They will provide you with a letter to bring into the library. We also need to see your ID.
  • Your card will be good for three months before it needs to be renewed, you can check out up to three items at a time and use public computers for up to two hours per day.

Property Owners

If you reside outside of the city of Springfield property tax boundaries but own other property within City limits, you are eligible for a library card.

Please bring identification and documentation in your name of property ownership within the city of Springfield to apply.

Business owners

If you are a business owner working at a property within the City property tax limits, you are eligible for a library card.

To set up your card, please bring identification and documentation in your name showing your are the business owner and the address.

We do not provide institutional cards.
