Teen Short Story Contest
$50 Grand Prize!
Each story must include the sentence: "One word changed everything." Students in grades 6-12 are eligible to enter. Sponsored by the Springfield Arts Commission. Official rules and the submission form.
Deadline is Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 5pm

Teen Space
Learn to juggle. Bring your favorite music to share while we work. For middle and high school students. There will be tasty snacks.

Banned Books Read-Out
Banned Books Week is September 25-October 2, 2010. Celebrate your FREEDOM to read! Check out a challenged book. Pick up an "I Read Banned Books" button. Community members, including Library Teen Advisory Board members, will READ-OUT from selected banned and challenged books. A partnership with the Lane County Chapter of the ACLU of Oregon and the Eugene Public Library.
Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 2-4pm inside the library.

Calavera Workshop
Teens ages 12-18 are invited to create a Dia de los Muertos calavera (skull.) The workshop will take place on two different days, allowing time for the clay calaveras to dry before painting. Pre-registration is required; please call 541-726-3766 to sign-up.

Teen Memoir Writing Workshop
Instructor Melissa Hart is the author of Gringa: a contradictory girlhood. As a published memoirist and University of Oregon professor, she has terrific tips for teen writers.
