Preschool Storytime ● Every Wednesday at 10am ● Ages 3-6
Fun stories, songs, a craft, and other early literacy activities.

Lapsit Storytime ● Every Wednesday at 10am ● Ages birth-3
Simple stories, fingerplays and songs for infants and toddlers accompanied by an adult.

Saturday Stories with Pattiebuff ● Saturday, September 4, 1pm ● “Slugs, Salamanders and Slimy Sillies!” ● All ages welcome. Come for stories, songs and a craft. Preschoolers should come with an adult.  Held in the Children’s Window Corner

Steel Drum Band Saturday, September 11, 2 pm ● All ages welcome.
The Steel Magnolias are an all-acoustic steel drum band.  The group plays beautiful island music as well as popular favorites on authentic steel drums from Trinidad.  This program is part of the Springfield Library Foundation Author & Music series. Held in the City Hall Lobby.

Grandparents Day Celebration with Storyteller Mark Lewis! ● Saturday, September 11, 3-5pm ● All ages welcome.
Children are invited to bring the special older people in their lives to celebrate Grandparents Day, September 12.  Storyteller Mark Lewis will tell lively stories, followed by crafts, refreshments, and a photo opportunity for all.  The event is sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association, Oregon Chapter, with generous contributions from Teresa’s Place and the Free Photo Project of Eugene. Held in the Library Meeting Room.

Preschool Fun with Art ● Monday, September 13, 10:30-11 am ● Ages 3-6.
Preschoolers will enjoy a fun craft time, presented by our children’s librarians. Children should be accompanied by a caregiver and come dressed for messy projects. Held in the Library Meeting Room.

Fiesta Latina ● Saturday, September 18 ● www.FiestaLatinaOregon.com 
Viva la Fiesta!  Stop by the Library’s table, 1-5 pm, at Island Park for Lane County's annual Latin American cultural celebration with great food, art, Latin music and dancing. All ages welcome.

Evening Jammie Storytime ● Tuesday, September 21, 7 pm ● All ages welcome.
Come in your pajamas for a special evening storytime.  Held in the Children’s Story Corner.

Story time in Spanish! ● Saturday, September 25, 1 pm ● All ages welcome. Stories, songs and treats with our Latino Liaison Emily.  Held in the Children’s Story Corner. All families welcome.

Banned Books Week ● Celebrate Your Freedom to Read ● September 25-October 2 ● All ages
Pick up a free button and banned books list.  A Read-Out of favorite banned books will take place Saturday, Oct. 2, 2-4 pm in the library.

Raising Happy Readers Club ● Tuesday, September 28, 10:30 –11:15am ● Children ages 0-5 and their grown-ups.
Discover new ways to raise happy readers with our early literacy librarian, Pattiebuff Bear. Families will receive a free book for participating.  Pre-registration is required at Children’s Desk.

Children’s Bookmark Contest ● September 30 – October 30 Grades KG-8
Pick up an entry form on or after September 30. Entries due October 30.  Drawings should be about books, reading, libraries or the 2010 theme, “A World of Reading”. Winners’ bookmarks will be professionally printed and winners will be congratulated at a City Council meeting.

Calavera Workshop Friday, October 8, 2-4pm, and Wednesday, October 13, 4:30-6pm For Teens
Teens ages 12-18 are invited to create a Dia de los Muertos calavera (skull).More information
