All electronic devices should be operated in a way that does not disturb others in the library. The volume of any device should be off or low enough to be inaudible to others. Ringers on cell phones should be turned off. Staff may intervene if a patron’s use of an electronic device is deemed to be loud or disruptive. Staff may request patrons lower the volume of voice or device, move to another area of the library, move to the lobby, end the call, or turn off the device. The intention of this policy is to manage disruptive behavior, not disallow use of electronic devices when that use is respectful towards others.
